Thank you for taking the time to visit our web site. On behalf of the 25 member staff of the Revenue Commission, we want to thank you for the opportunity to serve the citizens of this County.  As we work to provide you the service you want, we offer this new and innovative way of doing business with the Courthouse.  We are very excited to bring government to you in your home or office.  Through the development of this web site we hope to be able to save you time and money when it comes to buying your car tag or accessing 'public information' that may save you from making a trip to the Courthouse.  While there will still be many situations that require you to see us in person (for a signature, certain filings, etc.) and we certainly welcome your visits, we hope this on-line service can be of help in an increasingly busy world.  When you do come to the Courthouse, I know every effort will be made to assist you in a friendly and professional manner.  The staff of the Revenue Commission bring hundreds of years of experience to the departments of: Tags, Titles, Real Estate, Appraisals, Mapping, Manufactured Homes, and Personal Property.  This group currently working in the Revenue Commissioner's Office is an outstanding one!  From the courteous and friendly clerks you see on the 'front -lines', to the qualified and professional talents of the other staff you may not see, I know each employee believes as I do, that "the customer is #1"!

The Revenue Commission staff is led by Deputy Revenue Commissioner  Marcelle Whited.  This 43 year employee supervises the overall operations of the Revenue Commission, while being responsible for all accounting and reporting of ad valorem revenues (totaling $10.8 million in 2007).  Assisting Ms. Whited with the reporting and banking activities is Deb Clem.  Deb is also a Real Estate Department clerk, handling assessing and collecting of property taxes.  Also in the Real Estate Department is Dee Alldredge.  Dee, the office manager, a 25 year veteran of the Revenue Commission,  is also responsible for all of the mortgage company payments to the office.  Working with Dee in the Real Estate Office, is  Karon Holcomb, Cynthia Faile and Heather Mayo.  The Real Estate Appraisal Department is comprised of 2 State Certified Appraisers: Ann Self, with 26 years of experience; Annette Branham, 25 years of experience; and our newest appraiser, Teresa Stevenson, a long time employee of the Revenue Commission.  Each of these appraisers have completed numerous courses in the Certified Appraisers curriculum administered through Auburn University.  The Personal Property Appraiser for the Revenue Commission is Wendy Green.  Wendy is also a Certified Personal Property Appraiser, having completed all requirements (120 hours course work, exam) back in 1997.

The Tax Mapping Department consists of two persons: Sandie Buchanan and Becky Brown.  Sandie came to the Revenue Commission in 1994 from Alabama Power Company and is a State of Alabama Certified Mapper.  Becky began as an appraisal clerk and now works as a Mapper III with the department as well as having been very instrumental in the opening of our new Hayden Office.

Our Tax Maintenance Department is made up of four individuals: Kathy Smith, who has worked with us since 1997; our newest member is Beth Bryson who works along with Allison Frey; and Tawnya Glover who worked in the Tag Deparment for 8 years before coming to Tax Maintenance in 1999.  These are the faces a taxpayer sees when he/she needs help with a tax map or other public record.  These are also the persons responsible for maintaining 39,100 Property Record Cards, which are the basis of all Real Estate Assessments.

In charge of the Title Department is Jackie Wright.  Jackie has been with the Revenue Commission since 1981 and brings invaluable knowledge of the Title application process to the aid of all Blount Countians.  The Manufactured Homes Department is guided by Janice Hipp.  Janice oversees the registration of over 5,000 manufactured homes as well as assisting Mrs. Wright with title registrations.

Alvina Tinsley serves as office manager/bookkeeper for the Tag Department.  Alvina is responsible for the reporting and accounting of $5.6 million in revenues (2006 est.).  Also working in the Tag Department are:   Kristi Smith (1990); Dawn England (2000); and Shirley Bates (2004): and Amanda Hale (2007).  These 4 ladies will process over 69,000 registrations a year, the majority of these transactions (80%) are done over the counter at the Courthouse, with the remaining done by mail or online.  Our latest addition Rita Jordan comes to us with several years of experience working in the Lamar County Revenue Commissioner's Office.  Rita will be working in the Hayden office along with Liz Trammell who has been with us since 1999.
